Unstuffed Peppers
This unstuffed peppers recipe has all the flavor of stuffed peppers without the fuss. It's packed with ground beef, instant rice and, of course, green peppers for a quick meal you'll come back to again and again.
INGREDIENTS
- Bell peppers: You can use green or any other color. The closer to red, the sweeter the pepper.
- Beef: It’s best to use lean ground beef for this recipe, but you can use any meat or no meat at all.
- Rice: Use any type of rice to make the unstuffed peppers more filling and substantial.
- Onions and garlic: For flavoring the ground beef and adding texture to the unstuffed bell pepper bowls.
- Seasonings: Oregano, salt and pepper.
- Hoboken Farms pasta sauce: In this recipe the tomato sauce is used to add depth, acid, complexity, and tie all the other ingredients together any flavor will be perfect.
- For serving: The unstuffed pepper mix is served in a bowl and you can add any toppings you want. I usually just add shredded cheese and chopped fresh parsley
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cook the rice according to the package directions.
Step 2: Meanwhile, heat up a large cast-iron pan or other ovenproof skillet. Cook the beef, green peppers and onion over medium-high heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain any liquid from the pan, then stir in the rice, marinara sauce and seasoning blend. Add the cheese and mix well.
